BACKGROUND:

  1. Glenwood Street is a Municipal State Aid Route.
  2. Old and failing utilities will be replaced with utility funds.
  3. Current project status.
  4. Project schedule – please refer to schedule on back of this sheet. Discuss staging.
  5. The City of Duluth will hold a Public Hearing for assessment on March 9, 2010.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

  1. Roadway Improvements
    1. Complete roadway reconstruction from 43rd Ave East to 60th Ave East.
    2. Roadway width will increase from 36’ to 38’ with 10’ parking lane on the north side and 6’ shoulder on the south side, and a 5’ boulevard and 5’ sidewalk on both sides. Residents with affected steps will be rebuilt with railing when there are 3 or more steps.
    3. Horizontal and vertical alignments will match the existing roadway.
  2. Water Main – The water main from Crosley Ave to 60th Ave East will be replaced with new HDPE water main. We will be placing temporary water for all residents. A letter will be sent out to further describe this work.
  3. Sanitary Sewer – The sanitary sewer is quite old and has many bad sections. It will be completely replaced with new PVC sanitary sewer main.
  4. Storm Sewer – The entire storm sewer system will be redesigned to accommodate the new roadway. Additional catch basins will be installed.
  5. Gas Main – The City of Duluth plans to remove 3” gas from Crosley Ave to 48th Ave East.

CONSTRUCTION INFORMATION ITEMS:

  1. Roadway will be closed to through traffic during construction. Detour routes will be in place from May 2010 – November 2010 and from May 2011 – September 2011.
  2. Access to driveways.
  3. Garbage collection and mail delivery.
  4. School bus routes and DTA bus routes.
  5. Lester Park School access.
  6. Pedestrian traffic.
